Character Sheet
Why put your character on a blank sheet of paper when your character could live on a character sheet hand drawn by Adam Laux?
Now you have all the resources you need to run a game! May is almost through, which means there are only 7 months left in 2010. Our rough timeline is to playtest and brainstorm through September, and do a heavy editing through December.
So call your friends. Run a game. Or convince one of your friends to run a game for you. And don't forget, keep us in the loop! Let us know the characters people play, and the plots that get invented. Also, tell us what you like, as well as what you have problems with.

Centaurs
Centaurs are a feudal people devoted to defending the meek and destroying monstrous creatures that threaten civilization. They live in remote wilderness settings and become territorially protective of whole geographic regions. Many Centaurs are hunters, living simply and combing the wild for inhuman interlopers. Others live in cities that closely resemble military outposts. Centaurs are generally too committed to their charge as defenders to pay much mind to politics or trade, and their city planning reflects this. A Centaur city is placed to be the first line of defense against monstrous invasion, on the fringe of civilization at best, with little regard for supply lines or trade routes.
Physically, Centaurs are powerful and intimidating. Their equine bodies give them the size advantage over most other creatures and their culture of protection and warfare gives them the skills to excel in combat. They are well suited for travel, wilderness life, and conflict. On the other hand, they are poorly suited for various aspects of life. Having a lower body that is a horse interferes with activities from ballroom dancing to climbing.
Centaurs live lives of purpose. The most honored profession of the race is that of knight protector, and even laborers or crafters consider themselves sworn to defending civilization. This resolution has benefited the fairer peoples of the world many times. Centaur hunters regularly track down and slay marauding beasts, and Centaur knights man outposts that secure the borders of civilization from subhuman threats.
This determination also has a darker side. While certainly many creatures of monstrous complexion assail all that is good and right in the world, it is also true that many foster no ill will for anyone, and there are others who are genuinely good. In their fervent dedication to protecting society, Centaurs are often blind to this reality. They dispense a version of justice based not on the acts individuals, but on race. Some Centaurs are aware of their cultural blindside, but most are not. They defend their unsolicited violence against subhuman and monstrous creatures. Common responses include, "The Bogie hadn't done anything wrong? He was going to, and I prevented that. Would you rather he killed my daughter before or after I killed him?" or "The reason your people have time for philosophy is because my people do what must be done."

Let the Games Begin!
So far, our game has been sent to 25 interested parties. Some new gamers, some long time gamers, and some long retired from gaming. We've sent it to school teachers, construction workers, computer programmers, high school students, and more than a few English majors.
People I didn't ever know played have asked for a copy. I suppose that's the power of Facebook.
We will be sending out a character sheet in a few days. We hope you'll make a few! We are also toying with the idea of a spreadsheet character sheet on excel or google docs.

Bogies
A race of nasty, rotten, no-good, bottom-feeding gremlins. They have no real redeeming characteristics and a few nasty flaws; bad odor, skin that secretes grease, puny bodies, and regular deformities. They aren't exactly evil, but they are incapable of feeling gratitude (they don't really have much to be grateful about). As such, they are not prone to charity. Disgusting both inside and out, Bogies are greasy and rank.
Bodies are undeniable clever because they consider all the possibilities, even the ones that involve disgusting and deranged activities. They lack dignity completely. What would revile decent folk is in a Bogie's twisted little mind just another way to get ahead.
They tend to live in the grossest possible places. If living in an ordinary place, it will slowly become one of the grossest of possible places as their grease rubs off, their dung builds up, and sewage and muck is tracked back to their homes. Bogies are well aware of the power of stench and use it strategically to keep more "dignified" people out of their dwelling place.
Despite bad attitudes and grime, Bogies can have friendships with ordinary folks. While they aren't nice for nice’s sake, if a Bogie happens to like a person, the Bogie will be good to them. Bogies will do anything to get what they want. They know that the way you "get" people is to do things for them. It’s not friendship in the noblest sense, but those people who can get over the smell really don't mind the company of Bogies.
What is Severed Kingdoms?
Severed Kingdoms is a fantasy role playing game created by Adam Laux and Tim Huffman.
This game lets players and storytellers weave epic tales of heroism and tragedy. Unlike most games produced by the Adam-an-tim Workshop, we actually wrote this one down.
Currently in the "Beta Release to Friends," Severed Kingdoms is being play tested and perfected.
Publication plans: Unannounced.
(Translation: Undecided).

Launch
Tomorrow, we launch the game.
At least to our friends.
We've stirred the proverbial pot, asking for those interested in taking a gander at our game to get back at us. Many already have.
Tonight we launch our blog. We've got the forum up and running, a feedback for created, and now, the place to bring it all together.
